AMVCA Awards: Abraham Kabwe’s “Dalitso” Wins Best Southen African Movie

Zambia’s Film maker Abraham Kabwe has won the pretigious AMVCA Award for his movie Dalitso, which was nominated under the Best Movie Southern Africa Category.  The event held on Saturday, March 14, at Ticketpro Dome in Johannesburg and is organized by Africa Magic in association with MultiChoice. The 7th edition of the AMVCAs was also sponsored by Amstel Malta.

The Movie Dalitso is based on a story of a child rescued from a pit latrine born of Mercy, a young school girl after her step father Mr. Banda forced himself on her leaving her devastated  and disturbed from social and school life.  Watch the Movie Trailer below

Abraham Kabwe has produced several Movies and documentaries that have dealt with issues of Child Marriages and gender based violence in Zambia. He is known for TV drama series like Chidongo, Behind Faces a thrilling drama series on DSTV Zambezi Magic, reality shows like Ba kadira in Botswana, & Jomako which was earlier nominated at the AMVCA but never managed to win.
