Zonefam is was a due group that consisted of 4 members Jay Rox, Dope G, Tim Thugga and Reggie Verbal . It was an extraordinary group that put out classic hip-hop records from 2010 – 2013, but later started splitting.
Tim Thugga was the first one to leave and ventured into Gospel music then followed by Jay Rox who also became a solo artist.Later Reggie Verbal had to go back to school and focus on his career.
The music group has hits songs like Chikali, Translate, Contolola and Slow More which featured international acts of Nigeria Ice Prince and Patoraking . ZoneFam was the first Zambian group to win the Channel-O Music Video Awards under the category of Most Gifted Duo or Featuring with Contolola video in 2013.
We have been following up the 4 members lately and one common thing all used to mention is the group might do one album together.
The first one who came to the open and mention that music group might work together again was Dope G. He mentioned this when he was interviewed by Edna from Trend Splash. Dope G worked on a debut album in 2017 that was themed Flowers and his back again to offer us another one. He made this official when he posted on his Facebook Page that a new Extended Play(EP) is on the way.
Jay Rox has been working so hard to put Zambian music on the map. He has done some international features and has been nominated for International Awards. Not just that, but he was the first Zambian musician to be nominated for the MTV Music Awards (MAMA) and also won the BEFFTA Awards in 2015 as Best international Act.
However, not long ago Jay Rox also came out and asked his fans on his Social Media handle(s) that if ZoneFam could come back for one more album would the music supporters pre-order 10,000 copies before the release?
On the 18th of September 2019, the rapper Krytic made a tweetthat stated that ”Zonetober” and it didn’t take long for the former member of ZoneFam Tim Thugga to reply.
Are you excited that Zonefam could come together and do atleast one last project together???
